May 25th — Hospital Day 7
Today was one of the quieter days we have had since this whole stay began, and honestly that was a welcome change.
There were not many medical updates to speak of, but one thing that made a real difference was that Eli was taken off his fluids and monitors during the day, aside from his medications. That meant he could actually move around freely without being tethered to anything, and it was so good to see him just be a kid for a little while. We got out of the hospital for a bit and made a Walmart run, and later we spent some time in the ball room, which has quickly become one of our favorite parts of the day.
Rachel worked with him to try to get him to take some of his medications orally, and he actually did really well taking them when they were mixed into his food. That is a big deal for us and something we are hoping to keep building on.
They also ran some labs late in the evening, including checking his blood type and running a full panel on his kidney function and inflammation markers. Everything came back looking stable, which was reassuring after some of the rougher results earlier in the week.
Late in the night his head started leaking again, which is something we are keeping a close eye on.
Small wins, but we will take every one of them.
Thank you for the continued prayers. Please keep them coming.
